Diane K. Jakacki

I am Professor of Practice and Coordinator, Digital Humanities Research at Bucknell University.

My research sits at the meeting point of early modern performance history and digital scholarly practice. On one side, that means the drama itself: title-page illustration, touring players, city comedy, and the ways printed playbooks advertised and interpreted performance. On the other, it means the infrastructure that makes historical evidence tractable – text encoding, linked open data, spatial analysis, and the tools editors actually use.

Much of my current work is related to the Linked Editing Academic Framework (LEAF), where I serve as co-site lead within the Linked Infrastructure for Networked Cultural Scholarship consortium, and through REED London Online, which models performance events and how it impacts our understanding of early modern London. I held a Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Digital Humanities in 2022-23 for work on early modern performance events and linked open data.

I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Text Encoding Initiative Consortium TEI-C; I previously held a series of service positions with the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations ADHO.

I have co-edited three volumes: What We Teach When We Teach DH (U Minnesota Press Debates in DH series, 2023) and Teaching Text Encoding (U Minnesota Press, Forthcoming in 2027) , both with Brian Croxall; and Early Modern Studies After the Digital Turn with Laura Estill and Michael Ullyot (ITER Press 2016).
